HOPE Community of Shalom originated as a service organization of the United
Methodist Church. We have chosen to use the Hebrew word “Shalom” in our name
because it expresses a beautiful vision of welcome, peace, community, and
wholeness, qualities we seek to exemplify.
Where are you located?
We are located at the corner of 20th Street and Avenue T in the same
building as Asbury United Methodist Church. We are right across the street
from Dupre Elementary School and one block south of Lubbock High School.
HOPE Community of Shalom is a 501(c)3 organization, so all gifts are fully
deductible. We are not able to provide an estimate of the value of in-kind
donations, but you may make a reasonable estimate and deduct the value of
in-kind donations as well.
What kinds of assistance can you offer?
We offer a wide range of educational, nutrition, and clothing assistance
programs for all ages. For details of the various programs offered, see
“HOPE/Shalom Ministries” and “Fellowship Ministries.”
We can usually provide opportunities for community service hours, even for
minors who have been assigned community service hours by court order. We
also usually have community service opportunities on weekends. Please call
ahead (806)762-0829 to arrange for community service hours if possible.
Can you help with paying bills or to purchase gas?
We are unable to offer these types of assistance at the present time, but
will try to help you find an agency that can offer assistance in cases of
urgent need.
