Court ordered visitation and exchange (COVE)
Mary Guetersloh
is in charge of the COVE program, which exists to assist children of
parents in broken relationships see their non-custodial parent in a
safe, secure, dependable, considerate, and above all, neutral
environment. The best interest of the child(ren) is the focus. The
two programs offered by COVE are Custodial Exchange and
Supervised Visitation. COVE is a place where parents regularly
exchange custody of their children as ordered by the court with
confidence because of a process that is reliable and consistent.
COVE also provides a pleasant environment for a supervised
visitation between the non-custodial parent and child(ren).
The current
cases have been directed by the court to participate in the COVE
programs. Court-ordered cases are the most frequent; however, COVE
is willing to assist parents who can agree to participate. The
major factor in both programs is that the two parents enter the
building in two different entrances in such a way that they never
have to see each other. This prevents the child(ren) from
experiencing the possible negative emotions from either parent. We
believe that by providing these services, the added measure of
stability and uniformity will help improve the lives of those
children in our community whose lives have been affected by the
stress of upset and estranged parents.
The program is growing and is
always in need of financial assistance and volunteers. If you
are interested in giving about 4 to 8 hours a month to assist,
please leave a message for Mary Guetersloh at the HOPE Community of
Shalom office and your call will be returned. The COVE office
is not open unless there is an appointment or during the standard
custodial exchanges.
